Fellow Contractor Assistance

A goal of the CCA is to assure that the next generation of builders who lead the construction industry of Cayman are Caymanians. If Caymanians are to continue to lead the industry, they must be equipped with the knowledge of best business practices. Such practices are not taught in the Cayman Islands. Therefore, the CCA offers two services to fellow contractors to aid them in the administration of their businesses.

Mentoring

Mentoring - Cayman Contractors Association Grand CaymanSenior CCA members offer to share the knowledge that they have acquired over their lifetimes in the industry with younger members who are in need of advice. This advice can be invaluable, especially for the contractor who is growing and requires advice in an area of business with which he is unfamiliar. The mentor provides one-on-one advice to the growing contractor on a variety of subjects including, but not limited to accounting, estimating, staffing, Immigration and adherence to the laws of Cayman.

Each request by a contractor for assistance is weighed on its individual merits by the mentor and the time and assistance afforded to the growing contractor is provided free of cost. The mentor is not obligated in any way to share his knowledge with his younger competitors, but chooses to do so to assure the future for Caymanians in our industry.

Professional Services

All contractors must perform administration tasks, such as accounting, estimating and work permit applications. While a CCA mentor can offer advice on these tasks, a growing contractor may feel he needs the services of a professional to handle one or more of them for him on a regular basis. Full-time staff to perform these services is costly and, especially for smaller companies, cost-prohibitive. The CCA provides, wherever possible, names of individuals and companies that provide such services on an hourly, daily, weekly or project basis.

These professionals are not employees of CCA members, but are independent administrative contractors. The CCA offers referrals rather than recommendations for such contractors. Agreements reached between the two parties are not overseen in any way by the CCA and the subsequent relationships are confidential between the parties.
